Nahe der Kathedrale das Haus, in dem Jane Austen ihre letzten Tage verbringt und am 18. Juli 1817 stirbt. Das Haus befindet sich in Privatbesitz und ist nicht zu besichtigen.

Jane Austen wird am 24. Juli 1817 in der Kathedrale von Winchester beigesetzt.
"The last sad ceremony is to take place on Thursday morning, her dear remains are to be deposited in the Cathedral - it is a satisfaction to me to think that they are to lie in a Building she admird so much."
